Spherical-head tools · Undercut access
Undercuts and curved surfaces behind a restricted opening.
A lollipop cutter uses a spherical cutting head and a narrower neck to reach behind features. The head must pass through the entry and the neck must clear the surface during the cut. Provide the part section and intended approach for a useful feasibility review.

Application guide
Use the part feature and its acceptance requirements to narrow the tool choice.

Identify the edge and the allowable removal around it.
Check how much of the spherical profile must engage.
Selection & configuration
Check the head diameter, wrap angle and neck clearance against a section of the part. Access limitations can be more restrictive than cutting diameter.
| Decision | What to specify | Why it matters |
|---|---|---|
| Head geometry | Diameter and required cutting coverage | Not every part of every head is necessarily a cutting edge. |
| Neck | Diameter, length and clearance | The neck defines access behind the obstruction. |
| Toolpath | Approach, cutting orientation and withdrawal | The operation needs a complete collision check. |

From drawing to inspection
A tool specification should describe both the cutting geometry and the acceptance requirements. Mark critical dimensions on the drawing and discuss how they will be checked before ordering.
Selection questions
Practical answers for lollipop end mills.
Head diameter, neck clearance, cutting coverage and holder position all matter. Share a section and the intended motion so access can be checked beyond a single static tool position.
Part drawing; workpiece material; cutting access; critical tolerance; current process; quantity. Add the quantity and delivery destination. A drawing or marked part section helps identify critical dimensions and clearance constraints.
The quotation and agreed drawing define the tool configuration, inspection scope, quantity and delivery schedule. Reference images show the tool family; use the confirmed specification for ordering.
